Additionally, the borough is part of the Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area, with the city of Pittsburgh only a 15 minutes drive away. Braddock Hills is surrounded by the Allegheny River. According to the United States Census Bureau of 2000, Braddock Hills has a population of 1,998. The borough has a total area of 1.0 square miles, all of it land. The average elevation is 1,102 feet above sea level. Braddock Hills has approximately 1,000 households, the median income for a household in the borough is $30,382, and the median income for a family is $40,517. The racial demographics of Braddock Hills are 79.38% White, 17.97% African American, 0.30% Native American, 0.45% Asian, 0.15% from other races, and 1.75% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.55% of the population. The history of Braddock Hills goes back to 1750's in honor of General Edward Braddock during the French and Indian War.
